Out for Some Crack

(7/31) Tuesday morning marked our first day traveling outside of Dublin.  We got up, had breakfast and then waited for a taxi to take the 7 of us back to the airport to pick up our rental cars.  Our taxi driver was fantastic.  His name was Michael Dolan and if we could have brought him along for the rest of the trip, I think we would have.  He told us about Dublin, but also told us that he had his bachelor party and wedding in Orlando a few years back.  He shared some great stories with us including one we're he was stopped by a cop the night of his bachelor party and when the cop asked what he and his buddies were doing he responded with "We're just out for some crack."  Well, of course, the US cop didn't take too well to this comment and proceeded to ask Michael a bunch of other questions.  Finally the cop said, "why did you tell me you're out looking for narcotics?"  Michael started laughing and explained that in Ireland "crack" means fun. The cop called into the station on his walkie to have another officer check Google to make sure that crack really does mean fun.  I think I'm going to say "I'm going out for some crack!" on a regular basis now.

After Michael dropped us back off at the airport, we picked up our cars.  Brian is driving a mini van (he-he) and Mr. Dite has an Audi A4 wagon.  We needed the van to carry all of the luggage.  I'm determined to get a picture of Brian driving the van, so I can post it on Facebook.  He hates mini vans!  From Dublin airport, we headed to Newgrange in County Meath.  Newgrange is an ancient burial site that pre-dates the pyramids in Egypt. It was a typical crappy, rainy, gloomy day in Ireland, in case you couldn't tell from the looks on our faces.
After exploring Newgrange, we got back on the road and headed to Northern Ireland.  Enniskillen, to be exact.  We got into town pretty late and everything closes fairly early in Ireland, so we just checked into the hotel and hung out at the hotel bar.  It was a pretty low key night, but we still didn't get to bed until 2:00.  I have yet to get a full night's sleep.  Too much "crack", I guess. :)
